Ecology without having to sacrifice Christmas

From 119 CHF

An ecological, ethical and designer Christmas tree made at Suisse🇨🇭 by Olbis les Ateliers, a carpentry workshop working to reintegrate people into the world of work. Do-it-yourself assembly is as easy as child’s play.

Eco-friendly

Monbôsapin is made exclusively from Swiss wood, supplied by Scierie Zahnd in Rueyres, Switzerland. In addition to the fact that it doesn’t lose its needles, its lifespan is several decades longer than that of its companions, destined to end up on sidewalks in the cold and snow…

History

Ethique

Made in Switzerland, in the Polyval workshops, Monbôsapin helps to prevent social and professional exclusion and to promote the reintegration and professional retraining of as many people as possible.

My lovely tree can be dismantled and reassembled like a piece of Swedish furniture. It’s easy to store in its box under a bed, in a closet or in the cellar, waiting to take its place of honor at the next festivities.

Instructions for use

Étape 1

Start by screwing the first pole onto the metal screw in the round base of the tree. To prevent the screw from turning, use the spanner supplied.

Screw the other part of the pole onto the metal screw on the first pole. The wooden pin should be at the top of the tree.

Note that there is only one mast for the ‘medium’ and ‘small’ fir trees.

Étape 2

Start by inserting the 5 largest branches at the bottom of the mast. Then, in descending order of size, insert the other branches, ending with the smallest. Make sure the branches point upwards.

Arrange the branches as you wish, or according to the space you have available in your room.

Étape 3

Attach the tip of the tree to the wooden trunnion at the top of the mast.

Take a break and admire your work! Now you can start decorating.

Caution: never place a lighted candle on the branches of the tree, as it could catch fire and cause a fire. Monbôsapin cannot be held responsible for any fire caused by misuse of the tree.

Our history

Watch the video

It was on the evening of December 24, 2018, that I discovered the first “monbôsapin”. The fruit of the imagination and talent of my brother-in-law, Marcel Pradervand, this tree was a one-off and not for sale.

I found it beautiful, elegant and original. The more I looked at it, the more I thought we should give it little brothers and start a handcrafted production.

Determined to carry out this project with Swiss companies, I began my tour of joineries in French-speaking Switzerland in January 2019. Most recognized that they would not be able to produce this tree at an attractive price, and that it would be better to turn abroad…

One carpenter’s workshop responded favorably, Olbis les Ateliers (now Polyval), in Mont-sur-Lausanne. The carpentry manager, Jean-Luc Guignard, saw the value of the project for his vocational rehabilitation workshops. When the first prototype came out of the workshops, I knew I hadn’t made a mistake: this tree had potential! Almost three years later, more than 400 trees have come out of Olbis-les-Ateliers, a small production that I hope will delight children, parents and grandparents over the Christmas period.
